I am rebuilding my love wall

My name is Evelyn Nsiimwe. I am 35 years old and I live in Uganda with my husband and son. I have been married for three years. During lockdown, my niece, Carolyn Kabasinguzi, who works at Genesis Design taught us as a family what God’s will and plan is for us regarding Manhood, Womanhood, Sexuality and Marriage. I learnt many things, especially about God’s design for marriage.

I used to be the only one earning an income, as my husband did not have a job at the time. In my mind, I was the “man” in my home and lost respect for my husband, which affected our marriage. At one point in time, I left my home to go and look for money to provide for the family. I thought I was working hard and doing the right thing.

I learnt about the love wall according to 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

When I examined myself, I realised that I was not loving according to 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. And so, my wall was damaged.

Learning Genesis Design made me realise that I don’t need money in order to be happy and also encouraged me to rebuild my wall of love. I prayed to God to help me. I have now learnt to respect my husband and I believe my love is growing stronger. God has also enabled my husband to find work. He is now able to provide for the family. I thank God for Genesis Design. I would like to share what I have learnt with the youth in my church. Learning this Truth will help them make the right choices.
